THE ART OF DOCUMENTING, CAPTURING, AND PRESERVING YOUR ARTWORK
For Artists creating a masterpiece is a labour of love and dedication, your artwork reflects your unique creative vision and capture a moment in time .
As an artist , it is essential to document your artwork properly to ensure it's preservation , promotion and authentication.
What we record our present now influences how people in the future will understand the past and Artists are vital to remembering our collective cultural history. When it comes to archiving - photographs of artist work are almost as important as the work itself. You'll want to give a sense of your work as a whole and in detail with your photographs - record your work’s provenance now, it is less likely that this information will be lost over time. Provenance matters to you the artist and to collectors.
Many artworks are physically lost, others we lose information about. So it is important to make sure to keep track of both the physical and the informational aspects of your works as they are essential to building your artistic legacy.
And its important to start by documenting your artworks with high-quality professional photographs - Galleries use different lighting - set up, exhibition display ideas etc this can be captured quickly by phone for a personal use but for archiving, printing or creating a book for example then its best captured by a professional photographer.

The work of Artist Veronica Buchanan in the RCC Gallery , Letterkenny , Co Donegal. A native of Buncrana, County Donegal. Veronica studied Fine Art at NCAD, followed by a career in teaching art for thirty-five years. Retirement has allowed her to transition into a working artist with ease. Veronica has exhibited in many galleries, both locally and nationally.
Veronica Buchanan’s work is firmly rooted in her personal experiences, connections, narratives, memories, and reflections—concepts that evoke emotional responses and serve as the foundation of her compelling work. The exhibition included earlier and current works in various media, including ceramics, textiles, drawing and painting using different media stems from a drawing perspective.
